Will this fish not survive at such temperatures? I didn't want to get it if there's no chance of it surviving long term in my tank.

My friend owns one in his tank for 2yrs and the temperature of the tank is 77F(25C), he told me that Prognathodes butterflies prone to jump out the tank when stressed by other tankmates. The lighting is dark to mimic the habitat of the fish, too much light will cause the fish to develope black spots.

Interesting. So the bright lights of a reef tank would probably be a bad choice then for this fish.

Yes, bright lights might be worse than high temperatures. I've seen it in relatively shallow water in west Africa, in temperatures as high as 28-29C, but it is always in small caves away from bright light. If you have a large tank with plenty of hiding spaces it should be ok.

I guess I'll hold off on this fish then. My plans for my new tank will have hiding spots, but not enough for a fish like this. It is a very beautiful fish though.
