Preparing the Rockwork

Preparing the Rockwork

Preparing the rockwork: I have tons of rock but I don't want it all in the DT...going to have 3 islands in there and then a bunch of rock in the sump. Of course laying out the rock on a cardboard template is not the same as placing it in the tank. Of course I had to make adjustments when I put the rock in the tank....and it wasn't easy (nothing is). I added 160 pounds of Marco Bahama Argonite sand so you can't see the rock throught the water yet. I'll post some more pics when things clear up. Thanks to everyone from LIRA who helped me out on this project especially Joe, John, Bill, James & Walter (I'm probably forgetting someone but thanks to all....the project is ongoing).
Frank

I see I convinced you to update your thread Frank. Everything looks great bud.

Thanks Jim....a few people have been asking me to update....I took these pics the other day. Tank is filled...a minor problem with 1 of the bulkheads which I took care of at 11:30PM last night (slight leak & needed to be tightened).....Now it's time to fill the sump and start to circulate the water.

I still haven't seen what the rock looks like in the water....(sandstorm). I made a mistake in an earlier post...I said there is 160 lbs of sand....actually it's 320 lbs Bahama argonite coarse sand from Marcorocks (great price...it was on sale....$185 shipped). I need to run this through some filter socks to help clear the water.

Updates!?! I've been asking where's the water for months :)

Filter sock and skimmer will help clear the sand storm up in a few days but a few weeks to get truly clear.

Frank,

Do did you finish this weekend? When can I come over and see the finished product?

I moved my 125 live stock and all Saturday ( Um thats 1 day) two blocks down the road. Just a little less than 18 months ;-) JK.

Thanks for the couplings! I hate going to Home Depot!

Thanks to Jim too for the help Saturday moving the tank.

-Walter

Hi Frank,

Back from Arizona, been busy around the house. Tank looks great, I'd love to stop by and se it.

John

Hey John....welcome back.....you are welcome to stop by anytime. I'm waiting for the water to clear up so I can actually see the rock I put in there.
