Progressing! Slowly but surely

I don't know what you medicated with but most meds are not good for corals and inverts. It's my opinion you should always qt and not medicate the display. Because you had just purchased the fish I would have returned both of them just in case it is a contagious bacterial type infection.

I only have the two fish I bought in my DT, therefore I didn't make a big deal of trying to find a QT. Regarding trying to heal the laceration, is there something else I would need? I used Erythromycin to fight the mouth fungus.... but I want the laceration that was caused by to heal. I've search the thread, and really haven't found much.

Thanks for your help! As always!

I'm not really knowledgable on disease., meds etc but if your plan is to add corals and inverts I would inquire if the meds are safe and how long they stay in your system if not. Are you running carbon or did you shut it off or not running carbon at all. A couple good ones to ask is bullitr, enjetek, waynel133. They are very familiar with these type issues as they are big fish guys. I'm sure you will get many posts as people see this that are very knowledgable. Good luck with this

Thanks! I am going to do a water change today... hopefully it doesn't stay too long in the tank as I do want coral in my tank! I will definitely ask them or research.

Not running any carbon, but my skimmer did go crazy and started to only foam. I shut that off in the meantime.

Now that I look at it closer, its a red spot and inflammed. Do you think I should continue with the treatment? Will it alleviate the red and inflammed area? Any ideas?

Helllloooo!

Just giving an update.... the mouth disease is pretty much cured. The clown still has a small red mark, but I will let it be.
Added to tank:
1) chaeto - thanks Dave (o2manyfidh)
2) orange mushroom

Current issues:
1) Since dosing the meds and adding fish into my tank, my skimmer hasn't been working. I've done a 20% WC, but eill do another this coming week. Hopefully the skimmer will begin to function normally.
2) diatom bloom. I did a 20% WC , but looks like it still persists. Will prob buy some CUC this week.
3) I want more coral and live stock :)

What med did you add to tank? Most meds will make your skimmer go nuts. I wouldn't worry to much about diatoms just yet. Keep your phos down and WC is good. Turbo snails eat diatoms. Blow off rocks and manually clean, the skimmer will do the rest.

Yea that's what I figured about the skimmer and diatoms.

I'm not too worries on my tank yet. The diatoms seem to be slowly going away.

I've also discovered about a dozen or more pods in my refuge!

Proving another update. Hopefully get more positive feedback.

Parameters:
calcium- 640
Kh- 14
PO3- 0
NO3- 0
Ammonia - 0
NO2- 0
PH - 8.2
Salinity - 1.026

Added to the tank:
- Ora purple Stylo
- frogspawn
-birdsnest
- about 12 polyp zoas
- xenia

Issues: I may have little trace of the meds in the tank bc the skimmer is a little more tame, but not working properly yet.

An algae bloom has gotten better but still persists. Thinking about getting CUC and reducing my light schedule

Lastly, after having the stylo for about 2 nights, this evening I noticed a few of its polyps have closed and sucked in. Any idea what it could be? He is placed at the bottom, with good water flow. Should I move his up more? More light and higher waterflow?

Also, is it weird to have high ca and kh?

ca and kh are both too high. I'm usually about 450 and 10. If your dosing stop for a week and test again. What salt are you using?
Is po4 at zero? What tester? You want it low but too low and SPS will RTN equals bad. Too high and algae grows more.
I don't have a stylo but I think they are med. light and flow coral.
What's up with skimmer? A pic and more info, please.
A CUC can't hurt.
When all else fails, water change.

I am not dosing! That's the odd part. I use Red Sea coral pro salt. The reading I mentioned earlier as PO3 is actually suppose to be Po4(phosphate).i tested using API...

I raised the stylo last night, and it does not look like it is doing any better, but not any worst. I looked up pictures of RTN and it doesn't look that bad ( no bleaching ). The stylo looks to be loosing its polyps.

The skimmer is acting up bc of meds I had in the tank. There may be some trace of that in the water.

Can you see where the polyps have receded?

The reason I asked about the salt, red sea has high ca and kh. I wouldn't use it for big water changes or starting out. At this point I would suggest 50% water change, I use coral life but you can use reef crystals or one with lower ca and kh.
API is not going to cut it for testing p04. A hanna digital tester that reads very low is what you need.
The stylo doesn't look that bad but the torch behind it is not open. Torches do not like a lot of water flow, nothing direct. I would place it in a mellow area and it doesn't need a lot of light and I believe stylos are the same.
The 50% water change will help with meds still in tank. Did the skimmer ever work well? A pic or video would help. Do you know who makes it, model number?

Skimmer did work well at one time. I think you're right about the water change. So after changing the position on the stylo, it looks to be doing better. Im keeping an eye on it. The torch is wide open and looks great.

Ill look into a hannah tester, not sure what that is or how it works.

I havent purchased the hanna yet, but since I got my CUC a couple days ago the tanks looks a lot better.

Everything seems to be doing well, except for thr skimmer. I havent had a chance to do a large water change.

I recently discovered something new... not sure if it is eggs or algae? Please help me ID. Its white star shape on the top of the pic. Dont mind the brown algae
