Ahh, that didn't go well. :-)

Testing the water with different blades and drill bits.

Ok, enough of that. Let's get to work on the real material.

I have to screen the front and also drill a hole for the wire to come out the top instead of the back. After that, it's pretty much done. I'll have more pictures tomorrow.

Thanks OrionN for helping me think of different ideas!

Nice! So, how does the water flow compare to with out? Is it noticeable or altered? More directional?

great idea! thanks for the info!

did you just use a plastic jar and chop it down? what kind? thanks...

Very nice job! Must confess, I'm using unprotected vortech pumps in my tank because I just hate the look of equipment. I suppose at some point I'll pay for it .....

I dont think will be a fool proof device, the anemone can still walk up the side of it and into it.

The only real fool proof way is to have no pumps.

Could cut another disc for the front of the pump and cut a small hole in it for the front of the pump to stick out of. That way there are no openings to the side of the pump big enough for the anemone to float into.

you could but you risk cutting down on the power of the pump. Any opening on the cover is a opening an anemone can slip into. They basically have the body of a squid they can fit anywhere but dont have brain to distinguish bad places from good.

Thanks! Yeah, equipment in the tank sucks. However, we need PH's for flow and can't really get around that. I would cover those Vortechs with Tektite's design. Maybe go a little bigger with different mesh.

It's not done yet. It will be completely safe as I continue to tweak them over the next few weeks. I may even tank this design and make one better in a few months. Gotta test em and see what I like or dislike.

Using clear netting. Pics coming soon.

Yeah, front is being covered now. Still tweaking the design.
