Project External Glass Overflow

How high up are the holes drilled? I would that with the holes there the surface skimming would not be as great and that it would cause a lower water line. Or I could be misunderstanding. Do you have pics or a diagram?

Thought I'd post a pic with an update... doing a fresh water leak test.

and I guess a shot of the plumbing.

The third pipe is the return... it runs up through the overflow and then down underneath the tank. I wanted to put the water return at the bottom of the tank without a back siphon problem (there's a hole drilled in it in the overflow box) and without a pipe running inside the tank.

It seems to be working really well; between the 70rlt, the beckett intake, and the drain outlets into the sump it's still a little loud. Working on that.

After that, I just have to hang the lights and finish the stand and it'll be done.

I'm getting a 36x18x22 tank and I'm a little unsure after re-reading this thread if I should not make the cut on the back panel of glass or not. The back panel is 3/8 and will have 3" eurobrace. I would like to make a cut similar to Bishop's except leave a 1/4 inch glass above the cut out. Does that sound like it would work?

You can certainly do that, but you cannot do it via the method I did. It will need to be watercut or dremel-cut.

I don't know why you want to leave the 1/4" strip, but it's not really that necessary.

Yellow Ridge Coral with an inhabitant. If you look at the top edge and to the left you see a knotch that is actually a home to a boring snail which lives in there. He casts a spider web like line leaves it out for awhile and slowly pulls it back in catching whatever sticks to it. Dosent harm any inhabitants.

Hey Flaunt thanks. I think I'm being overrun buy red turf algae. Head for the hills.

That sucks. I would recommend trying a mexican turbo snail. And I do mean "A." I have one in my 20L and he eats almost every last spec of any kind of nuisance algae.
