I don't like staring at powerheads. I chose to go closed loop. Powerheads are definitely more efficient from a wattage standpoint, though.

I had the same dilema and finally went with powerheads!Waaaaaaaay more efficient let me say!

It is also a question of maintaining these Powerheads in this Size of Tank !!:deadhorse1: . I Think it will be more efficient to run the CLS in my case and perhaps to add 2-3 Powerheads easy to reach, if the flow is not sufficient.
Regarding the Power consumption, I would like to mention that we will put some 12 KW Solarpannels on the roof. You know the sun is shining here constantly.

I am looking for this Pump Eco Blue Titan or the Deltec pumps for the CLS.

I plan to use for my Tank a return pump with a capacity of 4000 GPH. Which diameter of PVC Tubes I have to use for the overflow to handle this amount of water ?

I think you should be good with atleast 2" drains, maybe 3" just to be safe.

Hi Newbie

for the CLS i will go for 2 x 2" drain to run at least 8800 GPH. I let 2 additional drain of 2" for as a "just in case Option". Bcs. this is a concrete Tank there was no way anymore to change.
