Promoting Purple Coraline

Hola -- We have about 75 lbs of LR in our 55 gal tank, most of which we purchased was already established with beautiful coraline. What's the best way to promote this growth? Since we set up tank (tank has been up 4 months; 55 lbs of the rock was added a month ago), we haven't seen much purple growth/spread. We've been using "Purple Up," with no visible success. Now, as far as the Purple Up, we have been using less than the suggested amount because we do not have a Calcium test and were concerned about raising the Ca levals too much.

Our lighting is a 4x65 PC; our water parameters (Nitrites/Nitrats/PH/Ammonia/Salinity)are all fine/normal.

Anything else we can do?

Thanks

It's ok if you raise Ca levels up the rock will only absorb it. You may have a little film on your glass but....
If you are concerned with coraline you need:
Ca 400 or so
pH 8.-8.3 or so

You may want to get a Ca test.

JMO

and tokitay has it correct be patient it will come with good suplimentation

Make sure to test the alk..that was my problem all along..now that I use a buffer and moniter my alk level it's growing all over the walls and on the powerheads, heater, rocks..etc.

Purple Up is not that great IMO. I wouldn't buy any more.

Essentially, as long as your Ca and Alk, and perhaps Mg also, are within correct parameters, coralline will thrive. So get some test kits to stay on top of those.

I made the mistake of dosing my tank with Purple Up. I think it's fine if you have TONS of coral soaking up the calcium, but I don't have that much. Thus it lowered my alkalinity along with my pH. I've stopped dosing. But since I've stopped, my coralline has lots its vibrant color.
