Proper intervals for adding fish

I posted just a little while ago about wanting to soon add a Clarkii Clown to my 90 gallon which has had three chromis for about a week now. So on the topic of stocking, is it possible to arrive at a hasty surfeit of fish? If I were to add my desired number of fishes too quickly would there be dire consequences? On a much smaller scale, if my LFS has a nice clarkii clown in stock (which I seriously doubt they do) would it be wrong for me to add it as soon as this weekend?

Not in that big of a tank, i think the problem that most people have with adding fish to quickly would be they start overfeeding their new poop machines and nitrate spikes and algae blooms then you get a mess, where is you add one poop machine every few weeks, your feeding does not increase as quickly and bacteria have time to catch up in the nitro cycle.
