Props to Oasis

SWS has always been fair to me and as such i spend all my hard earned cash there. as for oasis most of the stuff i have gotten there did not do so well, and the prices at oasis seemed higher in everything from the drygoods to the live stuff and compared to pretty much everywhere in pxh oasis was the highest price. the 25 bucks a frag at oasis was kind of much. again my opinion not a bash

All i know is that it is MASSIVE, custom made (idk by who) and probably costs more than most new cars. And it has to be considering he uses no medicantion in his fish water with the exemption garlic and a UV sterilizer. Just ask him to see it he will gladly show anyone.

I find it really hard to think any LFS does not use any medication in their fish holding systems. Have you ever tested the water? Also doesn't Hector Supposedly quaranting everything for 2 weeks before selling any live stock, wouldn't he use medication in the quarantine tanks? With the amount of turnover and incoming livestock orders, you would lose so much livestock if you didn't medicate. Plus, I would be weary of buying livestock that has not been treated with at least copper. Remember what all the fish and said to Nemo when he came straight from the ocean? LOL Fish can have hitchikers as well that you may not see right away. They medicate at LFS so we don't have to! Check out this thread below:

Really? I wonder if this is why so many LFS offer guarantees on fish....some of them up to 30 days on all livestock from what I read and hear....

Did you know that not all fish can be treated safely with copper without dying or causing serious illness? I'd ask Rob at SWS if you dont believe me. Did you also know that an LFS can medicate perfectly healthy fish coming in and cause severe reactions to them? Again, ask Rob about that one. He should be able to clarify these concerns for you :shrug:

Not always quite so. This is why so many fishkeepers worldwide recommend Qt'ing before adding anything to a display tank. Fish can also BECOME sick due to poor water quality, poor diet, etc. Id recommend getting your facts completely straight, first

First off not trying to ruin anything! All I said was it was hard to believe that a fish store does not medicate. Secondly, any fish store that i have ever been too have medicated with copper. The amount of copper or other meds I do not know. Whether or not Hector uses meds or not, I don't care. I was just asking you how do YOU know. Because if there is another way of treating 50-100 fish all at once from a shipment I would love to know and I bet other people would like to know. Another thing, why does Hector split up the inverts from the fish systems then? WHy not have some inverts in with the fish, as well including cleaner shrimp? For that matter how many times have you seen inverts in along with fish in a store? Not many!

Next time you buy a fish from Oasis dump the water in your tank, I dare you! If you believe that he is not running copper and has the cleanest tanks and uses no meds then it won't hurt anything right? You are saying Hector has never had a shipment of corals come in and not have AEFW or Redbugs, and all the fish are cured from all diseases with the cleanest tanks, garlic and good diets? Hector must be feeding the A-Rod diet! All I said was that is hard to believe, and if its true I want to know who this wholesaler that is supplying the livestock and where in the world they are getting the livestock. Maybe the bermuda triangle, that magical place. If this is true I will open my own store because I would never have any loss of livestock. Hector is a lucky man!

One last thing, what does quarantining do for fish that come in with a disease? If buy a Tang, and i quarantine him for say 3 weeks, and the Tang has ICH. WHat am I supposed to do? Just hope that garlic takes care of it? What would you do to cure the tang! Ah probably have Hector come over and wave his hand over it and all is good right? I did not come on this thread to say anything bad about a LFS, all I said was that was hard to believe that is all! Any LFS that doses copper or uses any type of meds makes sense and is not a bad thing at all and is completely understandable.

We should all know by now this type of thread never works out. ReefAA with your personel interest in only one store, and the fact that you were gone and gone and back again, you should know better than to involve yourself in these threads. This is another one for the "closed" pile. The site is for reef information and knowledge. Lets all stick to that. If you want to prop up a LFS, start a blog and say what you want. Lets just keep reefing fun.
