protein skimmer experiences

personally my vertex in 180 is too much for my system, felt the 100 wouldnt be enough, i do have a high bio load 14 fish in my 80g system, all smaller fish so poop load isnt as bad as if i had a few tangs. personally the in 180 would be great for your system size wise, as well as many other skimmer's, most skimmer's out now days perform close to the same, for some being able to say they own a atb or bk ect is nice, for me having a skimmer that functions as well as the upper priced skimmers and still having money in my pocket was more important

wel msx rob what skimmer would you suggest? i am leaning towards an msx skimmer....is the msx 300a too big for my needs? a 120 gallon sps tank full of fish, 90 gallon frag tank, 90 gallon refugium, 60 gallon sump......

I'm trying to figure out the same thing.

Are the vertex IN-180 quiet? Is ATB or vertex a better skimmer? The alpha 170 and the ATB 840 v1.5 are basically the same price.

Well again thanks to all..you have helped me to think about things. all said and done im actually going with a smaller skimmer than i thought, its still big but smaller.... so my choice is:


MSX 250a:celeb3:

I think the 300A is bit large but a nice skimmer just the same.

I just received the SWC Cone skimmer from Premium. Very happy with the construction and it has a solid name brand pump.
