Protein Skimmer Identification Contest

I have obtained a protein skimmer, looks a little more professional than DIY so I imagine it is just older.

It has a hole on the back bottom, (right side on pics)

I have tried hooking air and a pump to it, but the bubbles get sucked up by the pump or shot straight into the tank, either way...bubbles get in the tank.

Any info on the brand name and or model would be awesome so i can use it properly.

The grand prize is the satisfaction of doing a good deed.

Good luck, I worked @ a pet store and they could not help me!

you should take a few different pictures of the different sides and what not.
(but i havent seen anything like it before)

tell me about it. I have googled every aspect of the thing I can. I am about to just seal it air tight and make a recirculating one out of it or something...

I dont know.

The stupid thing just shoots bubbles out no matter how I set it up.

its pretty simple.

the front has an adjustable plate that i assume adjusts the water level.

the back has a small whole with no threads.

assuming thats the intake...the water travels in that whole, up the baffle to the opening a few inches below cup into activation chamber which goes down a baffle and than up to the adjustable plate...

I have tried water in both directions with the plate as an overflow so to speak...just jammed a sponge in to clean surface scum...

yep thats a sapphire aquatics skimmer i had one for my 28g nanocube i recently tossed it in the trash since the 28g has been offline for over a year. it worked better then the stock skimmer the tank came with and it did look nice. if i still had it i would have sent it to you for parts. it uses a small pump with a mesh wheel. the problem was the mesh would wear out fairly quickly and need replacing. i think you would be hard pressed finding parts for it since they have been out of business a long while.

Wow. ok. thanks. Is there any way you could draw up a diagram of where the parts go? Im good at DIY stuff, so I could probably get it working with some spare parts

I gooogled the company you suggested, I found millions of skimmers, but they awere all different. Most of thm looked like recircs...but they were clearly the smae brand.

I modded my pump with a makeshift venturi that reallllllly makes some skimate, I guess I just have to make a bubble trap or something in my bottom tank.

Were the bubbles a big prblem for you as well blayze???
