How long can I go without running a skimmer?I was doing a water change and the main pump would not start back up so I took it apart and proceeded to break the ceramic shaft,long story short my skimmer pump is on the tank now.This is why I put off water changes for 3-4 months.

You don't HAVE to have a skimmer .... just do very frequent water changes.
