Ok, if you read my post from a while ago I was finally able to get a female Ps. steenei after god knows how long of a wait. She went through quarentine perfectly. Her male was also going through quarentine at the same time (different tank) and he is doing great too.

Set up a 60 gallon with 40 pounds of healthy live rock and enough 2" PVC fittings to plumb five bathrooms. The tank was divided with one on each side for a week. After taking the divider out today, noticing that they were both looking at each other with only the male "displaying" and the female doing the dootyback head shake/twitch. She swims right up to him, and with a jolt of speed locks jaws and does not let go!!! WOW PURE EVIL!!! And I thought that guys had it bad, it really sucks to me a male steenei.

Here is the question, whats the secret to these little monsters getting along??? How are they supposed to make little monsters if they kill each other?? So if any of you out there in cyber land have bred these critters ....... PLEASE HELP!!!!!

OH yeah, same situation with a pair of Oblique Lined Dottybacks too! Any help???

if that is the case, I might as well give up!! It took almost two years to get ANY female steenei. Now if I have to look for a juvi! Forget about it!!!!

Thanks for your idea

Tyler,

p.steenei is one of the rather agressive species which are supposed to built rather big territories. I doubt that a 220 Liter tank will give enough space for that unless you can accquire a "real pair" . which i doubt that they are offered.

My bottom line, bigger tank which is rather long and deep then high.
