Pseudanthias marcia?

Does anyone have any experience with these. My LFS has some (to me they look very similar to resplendids. What has the track record been?

I have a large tank with an auto pellet feeder and feed cyclopeze sparingly, have 3 square anthias doing fine, but failed at evansi's earlier this year.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

This is the pic the LFS has ID's as the above fish - if wrong, please let me know the correct ID also :) - I looked for other pics but all the on line pics look like squimpannis anthias to me - I'm not even sure if this is a male or a female.

P. marcia doesn't really look anything like P. pulcherrimus. Are you, or the LFS, sure of the ID?

I have no experience with the species, but they look pretty beefy. I wouldn't let failure with evansi discourage you from anthias. They are a difficult species.

Not sure of the ID at all, and honestly google was no help.

I haven't seen these in person (2 hour drive) so just going by the LFS post in our local forum.

Some possible ID's for me to look up?

Mark

PS - can anyone see the pic I posted? (I can)

You have to be a member of aquarium pros to be able to view the image. Any chance you can save it and rehost it on a free site, like imageshack?

Looks a bit like A Bimaculatus.

Anyhow, it does look to be one of the bigger species, potentially 16 cm.....

THey healthy and eating in the store?

It is certainly what is coming into the trade as "P. marcia" but from what I remember, it's not actually P. marcia. I guess you could add the famous cf. in there for a Pseudanthias cf. marcia label.

I seem to remember they're not yet named, and hail from the Maldives.

P. trunactus males are similar.

Western Indian Ocean: known only from the Gulf of Oman and southwestern coast of Oman.

I would think that means don't plan on seeing P. marcia anytime soon?

i still have them they are very easy anthias to keep not aggressive if given enough space and they eat almosty anything pellets , mysis, brine, krill they are really a beautiful anthias to keep. i have 5 in my aquarium 2 females and 3 males

Any chance you could post some pics after they have colored up? Also, what size are they (I have square anthias in the 4" range currently that they will be in with)

Mark

Mark they are fairly large for anthias about 4 inches at the moment bigger than squampinnis. they have great colour especially the dominant male at dusk they do spawning dances and the color changes as the male gets a intense red bar on his side and his tail edge.

I have seen rival males mouth sparring almost like rams butting heads but they are not overly aggressive in my aquarium as it is large and they seem more placid than the lyretail anthias

I have them with squampinnis and no problems.

here some pics
