Hi guys I just got a new 2-3 inch yellow Pseudosquilla ciliata. The thing is I have been feeding it freshwater guppies for around 2 weeks. I know it is bad long term go I stopped and I tried silversides. It didnt work. SO I tried freshwater ghost shrimp, it work. I tried krill, squid, and octopus all frozen and I had no luck. SO I tried my friend's plan of just starving it for 1 week and trying brine shrimp. It didnt work, instead it took down a 3 inch chromis I had in there. The thing is that it lived with it for 3 weeks peacefully. IS this normal? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

chromis and damsels run a little over 2 dollars each at my LFS, so you can feed it those once in awhile. My mantis wouldnt eat any of my frozen food, but I started to soak it in Garlic supplement and now he takes anything.

Keep in mind that mantis can, and willingly do (during molts) survive for days to weeks without eating. I would starve your mantis for at least a few days, then start offering "healthy" foods. If rejected, try again the next day. In time, your mantis will accept something. Consistency, I think, is key -- remember that these critters are smart! Try giving food the same time of day, in the same manner.

I just threw in a full sized cleaning crew and i havent fed my mantis in 3 weeks. Whenever hes hungry hell go grab something, and the good part is my tank gets cleaned. Theres still a few snails left.
