I used to run mesh on this pump got about 55 watt. I switched to the ppw now it pull 50 watt I have it sitting at 9 inches of constant water. I read that these pump run at 21 watt how can I lower the wattage ?

you have something wrong with your pump, they're only rated at 40w to begin with, you shouldn't be hitting 55w or 50w with either wheel. Are you sure the motor block is sitting all the way down on the volute? I'm trying to think of anything that would make it do that...

It is pulling air and water like crazy. It make dark skimmate thick black and stink. Just somehow the wattage is really high

Does the pump feel hot? Because if it is really running 50 watts, it will feel H-O-T hot. Even at 40 watts, when I was using them, you could tell.

My purple pinwheel uses 26w, 40w with mesh, I have heard the pumps burn up pretty fast above 40w. Make sure your meter is correct

That is high for mesh unless you have like 7 layers of PF4 and several mm beyond the impeller disc.
