A few weeks ago, I posted about the sudden change in my porky puffers begavior, specifically after I fed him 1 frozen thawed shrimp that I bought pre packaged at the food store.
it's been weeks and he is still acting very odd, nothing like he did before.
he's barely sleeping, he used to sleep all day, and only come out when the lights when off. All day, all night, he is swimming erratically back and forth across the top of the tank, and up and down the one side glass.. constantly.
Once in a while he'll swim to a cave area, and rest, but sooner than later he's out again.
Yesterday, he was laying on top of the wp40 near the surface of the water, pretty much sleeping on top of the powerhead.
his diet has been 100% alaskan whole shrimp, as he never wanted to eat anything else even though I offered many different foods.
I bought fresh mussels, he want nothing to do with them. He came right for it, very quickly, and as soon as he realized it wasn't a shrimp he acted like it wasn't there and went back to swimming up and down the side glass.
I gave him a tiny shrimp, with mussel wrapped around it, and he only went for the shrimp, and spit out the mussel and even some of the shrimp.
My wife thinks the sailfin tang is stressing him out. (Sailfin behavior is 100% normal) sailfin doesn't attack the puffer, he just always has to swim or float next to him, which she thinks is annoying the puffer.
I think I poisoned him somehow with that supermarket frozen shrimp, and possibly caused some kind of neurological problem with him.
Being awake all day seems very odd to me.. he seems like a different fish, acts very different.. nothing like the puffer that's been in my tank for almost 1 year.
Aside from the tiny little shrimp, I haven't fed him in 2 nights, hoping to create an appetite for the mussells.
I'm just at a loss right now. I don't want to keep feeding the alaskan shrimp in fear of krill diet type problems. With the other 3 fish acting as expected, it's leading to believe the store shrimp set something off.
I know there's not much to go on here, but any thoughts?
