Puffer in a reef tank?

Well I went over to a guys house today to sell him some Seios and while I was there I was checking out his tank. He's got a 200gal in wall loaded with SPS. While looking at all the different fish and coral I noticed he had a Blue Spotted Fiji Puffer. I've always wanted a puffer but I've heard and read that they aren't reef safe. Asking him questions about this he told me that he has had the puffer coming up on 3 years and has never had a problem. The only thing he said he has noticed is when stocking new SPS. He says the puffer will come up and nip at the coral a few times and then never touches it again, and by looking at his tank all his SPS are doing great. I talked to the owner of my LFS and he said that if I want to try it that I can but to keep an eye on things and see how it goes. He said that it shouldn't be to hard to catch if I ever noticed him doing to much damage.

My question to you is what do you think about this, and is there anybody else out there keeping a puffer in a reef tank.

they are coral munchers! they make sand from your live rock. not sure if they actually eat it, but ive seen them crunch LR and spit it out, and it looks like sand then. IMO, no, not reef safe. goto www.liveaquaria.com and pull-up puffers from the "marine fish" page, it will tell you what you need to know about them or any other fish you have questions about. have a great Happy New Year! and REEF-ON!
