i have this pinkish pulsing xenia in my 10g nano tank and was wondering how long it takes for them to spread around. ive had it for a bout a week and a half now. it should be getting enough current because of the fluval 305 i am using and my rio 90 powerhead. i have a dual satellite 20" light which gives off plenty of watts. i have a few aiptasias growing on some rocks but i no my pep shrimp are doing there job and there no where near the xenia. i use RO water and everything has been tested and the results are just fine. im guessing i just have to wait a little longer for it to spread?

While xenia can typically be very fast growing, ya gotta be a little patient here. A week and a half isn't really that long of a time for anything to grow.

It's one of those things where if you watch every day, you won't notice much of a difference. But after a month or so you should notice growth. Keep you eye out for little hands growing since xenia basically clones itself.

it's not gonna grow that quick. and it might not survive at all. Xenia is one of those corals that either will survive in your tank or not. Not everyone can grow it

If you want Xenia to really take off, Put them 5" under a 150w Metal halide light !
LOL Trust me !

Other then that, Watch your Ph, Alk, and Magnesium. Be sure to dose your essential elements and amino acids weekly !

xenia also grows faster in "dirtier" water, ie if your running a canister with carbon, it might grow slower.

Looks like you have the Red Sea variety, my favorite. I also have Elongata, which grows like weeds in my tank. The Red Sea grows much slower in my tank. You might also want to put a small piece or liverock or rubble next to it. It will branch out onto that and you can cut the connection and have an instant frag.

In about a month or two you will be posting "How do I keep my Xenia from taking over my tank?" or "My Xenia dissolved, Why?" It is usually hit or miss. good luck.

xenia is really a hit or miss.when i first set up my tank I put xenia in and after about 3 days i could see new growth. After about a week nearly all the little frags doubled. Ive never seen anything grow that fast in my tank. I placed one in a little hole in the liverock and in a week and a half it split in 4 and was nowhere near the hole, it looked like they walked out. And yes they like lots of light, they like waterflow and dirty water.. :)

Have you tried them in a refugium--or would it not be enough light
