Pump failing on my 9002

I'm seeing the pump on my 9002 not start back up when I unplug it. It happens about half the time and once it stops working I have to pull the skimmer out and mess with the pump - not clean it but just take it and out and out it back in and then it usually starts back up. Is this a known issue? The unit is just over a year old.

Take the pump apart and check that the impeller spins freely on the metal axle, this typically happens when enough calcium has built up to bind the impeller on the shaft, pull the impeller off the shaft/axle and soak both seperately in straight vinegar to remove the deposits. The pump cannot overcome the resistance of the calcium deposits and water so removing one of these sources of resistance allows it to start.
