pump for refungium

Yup That Stuff
hi all i was wondering if anyone has used a Rio 17 high flow pump for anything in saltwater, and if they have how well it preforms. thanks

That is a high flow, high head pump and would be used on something like a sump for the 44. For a small refugium it might be overkill.

It may even be overkill if used for sump flow, depending how much head pressure you have and how big the sump is. I agree that it might be too much for a refugium too.

Rio pumps have had a bad rep for a while. I have used them in the past (a 1700 and a 2100) without a problem.

well it will be going into a 20 gallon, half sump half refunguim, from a 44 gallon corner tank, it will be about 4 feet away from the main tank. It is supposed to be rated at 840gph at 4 foot but....we all know how accurate companies are with there measurements so I figure about 700 to 750 and idk now that I think about it….it is pretty high…do you have any other suggestion on a slower pump that could be regulated maybe down to around 660, I believe that is the rate of the overflow that I have. Thanks guys
