Pump in Sump

I am using a Eheim 1260 in the sump and using pvc all the way through bulk head.
I know I can sit the pump right on the sump bottom, but can I rest the pump on a small piece of styrofoam or something similar INSIDE the sump?
I only ask this to eliminate any possible vibration while the pump is sitting on bottom panel. I was thinking a small piece of styrofoam because of its properties.

I have quiet one pump 4000 in the middle of the sum, not at the bottom. I don't know if it's better or not.

i know some people use suction cups

I was originally thinking of actually suspending it just off the water. Since it will be plumbed with PVC, the weight shouldnt be an issue. But I may use the filter pad material suggested here.
