I'm running an rk2 bin for a sump, in it i have my return pumps, heater, calc-reactor and ozone pumps.. not really to much flow consdering that I keep it pretty much up to the 200gallon line. I've noticed that there is alot of junk starting to line the bottom of the sump, and i don't have much flow in there to move things in the water column push em threw the return pump and get them into the equpiment room where the skimmer and other stuff is..

Sooo my question to all you is..

A. Who runs pumps in there sumps for water movement.

B. How do you, and how often do you clean your large sumps.

if possible it might be a better idea to have your skimmer right at your outflow. That way the skimmer will pick up most of the garbage before it gets to the sump.

can't the sump is sealed up in the garage to retain heat, my skimmer is in the house in another room where i can acsess the equpiment.

Could you stir it weekly, with a good sized pump, as part of maintenance?

How'd that leak thing in the sump ever resolve?

I've been stirring it up before I do my water changes basically just pulling out 5 gallons then dumping it back in 5-6 times (great work out) to mix up the water then start pulling out water once there is a bunch of stuff floating around in it.

For the leak, I ended up just buying a 50$ Pond liner, worked great. Took about 15 mins to install, and it's a good thickness so I think it's helping with the insulation as well.

I use a 100 gallon rubbermaid horse trough. I do not use a pump in the sump for any reason other than system needs. I syphon the sump bottom every week or two.
You might use the advise posted earlier and use a skimmer in line with the overflow. A filter sock would also help reduce detritus buildup.
