Pump Recomendation?....Diagram

I'm converting my 75 gal FO tank to a reef set up and I'm looking for some advice on a return pump. My plan is to distribute the return water throughout the tank with a system of lock-line fittings and nozzles run through a sqwd....see diagram.

Curious on peoples thoughts for a pump. The tank is in my home office which is very small, so I'm looking for the quitest pump possible and I have and extremely cramped stand...so the smaller the better. Right now I'm leaning towards the Eheim 1262. From what I've read it's extremely reliable and very quiet. Its only rated at 900 gph which has me concerned with water flow reduction issues inherent with the sqwd, 90 degree turns...etc. I do plan on using multiple powerheads with in the tank, so it will not be my only means of circulation.

Thanks for your advice in advance

Peace Out

John

The Eheim should work well but more than 2 outlerts will restrict the flow quite a bit IMO. I don't know what the circle nozzles do though. It would be more simple and easier to alternate between just 2 nozzles like this:

You will also need to put the squid in a different spot if you plan on using all 4....between the two fittings that will diperse flow along the top of the water. If you are looking for quiet you might also consider using an OM squirt instead of the squid. 1" pipe plumbed all the way to the outlets will give you slightly more flow. Plumbed with 3/4" it should give you about 600gph total with head loss removed FWIW.

I wouldn't bother with the scwd or all that piping from the return. It knocks the flow down too much. I think the Eheim is probably fine for your sump return, but for additional flow I would look into a closed loop type system with a Ocean Motions (less flow restriction), or if you don't want to drill, consider either Tunze Streams or Seios (depending on your budget)

I also agree to skip the SCWD. They are really flow restrictive. If you do use it, use a pump that stands up to pressure well. In a submersible, the Eheim is about as good as it gets. External pumps can handle more head pressure.

I would agree on skipping the scwd, i used to have one till i went to a Ocean Motion wavhttp://www.oceansmotions.com/forum/faq.php?sid=0b5d06732b32b7e3a4c7e3ba93276719e maker, well worth the money imop. heres the web site.
