Well, these are the brightest pure yellow zoas I have ever seen in my life...and now they're mine. I picked them up yesterday so they are not all open, but I just couldn't wait to post a picture. These have to be on the bottom of the tank. Whatdaya think??

I just went back and picked up the second colony he had...50+ polyps. That will be my frag it up and trade colony...I didn't see anything that comes close on ZoaID either.

wow awesome color on those yellows

congrats ont he score

i wanna be in line for frags too =)

Thanks for sharing, those are awesome. I'd like to see some pics in a few weeks to see if they hold true, I hope so for ya.

That's one of the reasons I want to wait a little...don't want anyone who trades feeling like they got gyped.

That Tonga polyp will get very blue under high light and drab green in low. Their growth is almost nill IMHO. Nice find and I would keep them up high-so the latter does not happen. good luck with them

Seen a couple people recently get those over here in michigan lately.

Also seen them pop up one other time about 3 years ago from a reefing buddy-

Nice find. Wish I could come across them....

Its funny that all I have seen dont have much of a mat.....

Bad sign or normal for the type of polyp?

Goexman- you mentioned somthing about "tonga polyp"?? What is that and where does it come from?

Well, from what I have observed with one other zoa colony I have, they spread and then break off from the whole so that there is no mat but a bunch of individual polyps. Maybe it's a survival mechanism...if something happens to one polyp, it won't affect the others in the colony by being transferred thru the mat. Just a thought. I have broken the rock and placed it in different areas of the tank, just to see what kind of development I get and to see what keeps the colors the brightest.
