i know alot of people use these r/o units but just wondering where everyone gets the replacement filters? i checked on there site but was just wondering if thers a better place! oh and how often do u switch them out? i dont have a tds meter so i cant check that but i know its been a little while lol

Al...w/o a TDS meter it's hard to say but here is my thought. Change the filters out every 6'ish months including your DI. The RO membrane should last for a couple of years if you maintain the other filters.

Try airwaterice for replacement filters. They're here in FL so order today and receive tomorrow. They have fairly inexpensive TDS meters too.

Al I used air water and ice. I think it was $35ish for 4 filters. That's resin, carbon and sediment filters. I have a Tds meter if u need to check ur water. Got mine from walgreens.

What a coincidence I just finished replacing my filters. LOL

I bought my RO/DI filter from purewaterclub.com. I have also purchased my replacement filters from them too. They have good service.

Quality water is made by using quality filters.

I always buy from www.buckeyefieldsupply.com - an RC sponsor
Russ has never steered me wrong.

You really should pick up a TDS meter. Even a hand held if not an inline. I like to have both.
The quality filter argument has gotten old. There aren't that many manufacturers out there (suppliers are limited) especially when talking about RO membranes. Zero TDS is zero TDS regardless of who makes the filters.

AWI is also a RC sponsor. Their prices are nearly identical to Buckeye and since they are in FL they have next day shipping at no additional cost.

I believe I can recommend whoever I want to on this forum.

I didn't realize that YOU were the OP lpsluver.

There are plenty of junk filters out there and plenty of junk ro/di units out there. Just take a quick look on Ebay.

I haven't said that Russ is the ONLY one to go to.
I haven't said that there aren't other good companies out there.
I have simply voiced my opinion.

I have not heard one complaint from anyone that has ever contacted Russ about RO/DI units (whether they buy anything from him or just looking for some help).

If you have a personal problem with me I'm sure everyone would appreciate it if you keep it out of threads.

i dont think he is pointing you out specifically, just saying that in good marketing some companies hype up there product.

btw i havent heard any complaints from ebay rodi. they use the dow or ge membranes.

i have the awi chlorimine buster. 10 micron sediment, 5 micron carbon filter, and the last chlorimine type filter. works great.

The OP asked who people use to buy their filters.

I responded who I use.

And "my arguements are getting old"?

What's the problem?

Would he rather I suggest Wal-mart?, Home Depot?, Ebay?

AWI is good too, but they charge you tax [since they are in Florida as I am], thats why I went with Russ, and like my unit.

And "my arguements are getting old"

The Argument is getting old not your argument. You are entitled to you opinion as I am mine. Crappy, low quality water systems can make good water if they have good filters and most importantly a good RO membrane, good water pressure, optimal temperature and reasonable incoming water quality.

I am sure that BRF and the Filter Guy have fine products I just do not believe they are any better then AWI.

Sorry for side tracking the post Al.

lpsluver: I will openly apologize for misinterpreting your post. You quoted me and I immediately took it personally without reading it several times. Had I done that I probably would have noticed "The" in the post.

However: Sure, a crappy system with good filters can make good water - but for how long?
How long before the crappy system breaks and you are purchasing parts for it? The age old saying of buying quality products wins in the long run generally applies to most of the equipment we use in this hobby to include RO/DI systems. Filters themselves are part of the "equipment" as well. The same arguement applies IMO!

CF...no harm done.

I gree with the contruction of the system point. I've had mine from AWI for 7 years without any issues. My guess is that the RC sponsors are all selling similar quality equipment (if not the same equipment). It may be the bells and whistles that are different.

They should. They appear to be the standard 10" filters.

I wouldn't recommend the replacement 4 pack though if that is what you are looking at.

You get a 10 mic sediment and 3 charcoal filters. The last one being literally useless unless you want to drink the water.

nevermind i ended up just getting it from purewaterclub cause knew for sure theyd fit n plus theyr on sale and free shipping so it worked out cheaper :p

i replaced the filters and now its worse than before! before switching out the filters i had 14 on the tds meter and now after the new filters i have 22! what am i missing?

Al did u put them in the right order? Not sure if it matters, but you are suppose to toss out like the first 5 or 10 gallons.
