Let me see if I understand correctly. There seems to be consensus that stunted growth is not ideal (at the very least); while others believe that stunted growth is a sign of poor health. I am planning on rebuilding my 90g tank. If I were to put in tangs in my 90g tank that were recommended should be put in 180g tanks or 250g tanks, then I should expect that my tang will have stunted growth, which is not ideal. Shouldn't I be concerned that I may not be providing the ideal environment for my tang if I do that? Or is the solution that I have excellent husbandry to overcome the tank size differential when I put the tang in a tank smaller than recommended? If true, what should I be doing differently to ensure that my tank (as oppose to someone else's tank) has excellent conditions so that the tang can still be healthy although it will have stunted growth? I would imagine that there are quantifiable things that I can do to succeed where others presumably fail because they aren't maintaining the fish's overall health. Am I mistaken?
