3 weeks and 2 days, still alive  3 of 4 of them eats the bigger myisis shrimps but they eat slow...but all of them still eating cyclops-eeze.

FYI, my local LFS is getting in post larval fish including Purple Queens and also mandarians. I picked up 2 females and 1 male Purple Queens this weekend. They are going nutz over cyclop-eez and Rods Reef.

Mr. leee, FWIW, I'm pretty sure those are pascalus, not tuka.

yes you are right, they dont have the yellow line on their backs.

almost one month lose 2 at the 1month mark. it seem like they will only eat things that are soft. pe mysis are to hard...but the 2 that are still alive eats cyclops-eeze and braine shrimp (frozen adult ones).

cyclops-eeze are to small to fill them up...i think the secret is to get food that are soft small and able to fatten them up fast.

Btw, how to know if the purple queen is male or female?

i bought three purple queens a month ago (one male and two females). the one female died the first week. The second female died last week with some black infection bulging near its head. the male still alive and doesnt eat any food that i put inside the tank. However, i normally see him moving his mouth as he was eating everytime my squarebacks would mate and release eggs in the water column. I think his eating them.

I have one male squareback and 4 females (2 breeding) and they are eating lots of pellets, frozen, cyclopeeze, and basically all food put into the aquarium. they mate thrice a week if not everyday multiple times a day.

My tank is 100 gals.

I currently have 3 purple queens that are eating and have them with me for about 1.5 month. What I can confirm is that they do eat eggs. The first one started on prawn eggs then the other two started on Daphnia. So my suggestion is to get some fish eggs such as masago (the orange little eggs on top of sushi). Right now mine eat Daphnia, cyclopees, and prawn eggs. One of them eat frozen brine shrimp as well.

yup my squareback that is. They do it almost everyday. however, i cant seem to why i have not have any luck getting or growing frys.

dont they usually breed or mate in home aquaria?

My exporter supplier said he will have new batch of purple queens/purple anthias next week. im going to purchase 10 females. this is going to be a wild ride. hope to get them eat pellets.

if your going to try and make a purple queens/purple anthias eat pellets...your chances are like 0-5% of keeping them alive... if you want an anthias that will eat pellets try lyretails, brettlets, and squarebacks, the easyest of all anthias to keep.

Yup i have them already and already eating. so for purple queens, i need to just feed them eggs and live foods.

From what i have seen with ours .. In order to really hold there weight up they require fairly small food , prawn eggs, daphna , one of ours eats occasional mysis but for the most part it's smaller foods like prawn eggs, rotifers. The other point of this is it requires constant feeding, if your feeding 3 times a day IMO your under feeding them. The other thing i have noticed is they stay away from my other anthias for the most part, so the other requirement is calmness and having a large enough aquarium that they have there own space.

will it almost 2months, lost 3 out 4. lost another one a while back. the last one standing looks to be doing very good. eats braine shrimp,cyclop-eez , and the smaller pices of pe mysis. i just like to commend that the PQ anthias are kinda boring...all they do is swim in the open in front of the powerheads and eat stuff that flys by...they dont swim in and out of rock works or swim around, they usllay stay in one place.

here a video of the PQ
