Purple/blue gig updates

Taylor t, had to treat my purple again but looking well now after one day of treatment, had to burp I think, a little indigestion or sudden change of temps

The condition of that brown before and after Pete, I can't believe it. You're going to need to start thinking of a relocation for that guy. Maybe over Thanksgiving we can move that guy.

If you're treating your gigs again, don't use tank water. For Minh, it may be fine, but for most, don't play with the risk. Use 24 hour aged new saltwater. Safest.

ok sounds good Dave, maybe too much feeding but have been doing it every other day, not sure he shrank one morning but seems ok now, 2nd day of treatment going on 3rd tonight.
Yeah for the brown, was hoping he will move a little, but definitely, may have to move him in a better location than the wall. He may do better if he was on a rock right?

Hey Dave, here is the purple with the cut, you could still see the cut line.

Treatment for the Blue anemone

Heater malfunction? What was the sudden change of temps from?

Did the cipro bleach it again? It looks light again.

I don't know, but, do you think it's possible the blue went downhill from lack of flow, with so much feeding? That blue is really large.

I was trying to adjust heater since the tank seems to heat up a lot last couple of weeks, should have left it because it was ok but I do notice it bleaching, not sure where it is from, all parameters ok with the rise of ca at 430, am I overdosing something, or not enough of the iodide.

At what temperature do you guys keep your tanks? I have been keeping mine at about 82.5 and my 2 gigs seems to like it.

That top you have is probably keeping the tank a little warmer now, better for keeping your humidity down too. It was running a bit warm. Wasn't your tank running around 86+? I understand why you messed with the heater, I would have too. With that top, you lost your evaporative cooling.

I wouldn't add too much iodine. Be careful, easy to OD.

Do you know what the KH level of your tank was when big blue went south? What was the flow like? Power heads full of algae, or algae growing around/under it's skirt slowing down the flow? From the pic, seems odd it would turn from infection. Color/shape looked good. Hmm. I don't know.

82.5 looks fine to me. What really matters is, how do your inhabitants like it? If they look happy, keep doing what you're doing. :)

My 75 tank (6 gigs)temp ranges from (lately) 81 early morning no lights, to 84.5 with lights in the evening. They look happiest 82-83-84 to me. This could just be because after the lights are on so long, they look at their best, and the temp just happens to go up towards the end of the light cycle, while it's heating from the lights. They may actually not care about the warm water, they sure do like the light though.
My 210 (1 gig)temp has gone down (as low as 76) early morning, typically 77, but temp usually recovers to 78-80 by evening. Summer has gone as high as 84? Mertens doesn't like the warmer temps as much, the gig seems to put up with cooler water so far just fine.

I dialed down the heater at 79 to 80 but I am sure it was close to 86 at 1 to 3 pm, must be something else though since the other nems did not suffer, kh stayed at 10 but will test it again for you, will keep you posted.

Taylor t and I rigged it with mostly LED reefledlights and LED spotlight on each nem for added pop, 8 hour on whitelight and one hour before and after to actinic blue via LED. Total time of light is 10 hours.

can you give me pics and model of the LEDs you using? looking into replicating your lighting setup :D

THANKS !!!

@ Ptr13

Thanks for the pic, wow that's some lighting you have poitning directly at the nems. how many watts are those spot lights? are they from Home Depot or some online? when you have time can you please get me the link to that particular spot light so i can look into? thanks for your time.

Walk-in to the home depot. Right off the shelf. The Philips have a better spot and color. Ecosmart is more of a flood, doesn't look as bright.

wow thank you! i thought its some kind of special spot light bulbs but darn i am making a trip to HD this w/e.

is there a certain kelvin degree that i need to choose from or they will just be one type?

Opps... the details... Yes, in the pic above, just under the word "Dimmable", lower left corner, the color you want is "daylight".
