I am sure that it isn't a Haddoni.

As for a gigantea... not too sure, don't have enough experience with them. So with that said, it might not be one of those either.

Not like any mag that I've ever seen.

I am almost wondering about a malu or sebea

I am good on IDs with the ones that I have experience with, so I feel good saying it isn't an LTA, BTA or Haddoni.

im leaning more towards gigantea.but then again im not that experienced.may be somebody else could take a crack at it.

I hope someone else will chime in too.

The reason I wasn't thinking a gigantea was because it appears that it has buried its foot in the sandbed from my understanding they prefer to be on the rocks.

H. Malu, or H. Crispa.. doesnt look like any type of carpet.. a pic of the underside of the oral disc will give a better id..

I would say malu imho

I'm somewhat confused since it seems like there are so many English terms used interchangeably, while we have fewer terms in Japanese. Aren't malu also referred to as "sebae?"

I've seen malu and crispa referred to as "sebae", but I don't know if this is incorrect or not.

"sebae" is the common name used to describe both of those anemones. heteractis crispa and heteractis malu are the scientific names. heteractis is the genus, crispa and malu refer to the species.
