My tank is 24" deep and lit with LED's. My purple deaths seem to like it pretty low in my tank. Pretty much the bottom. If I place them higher they tend to turn brown, My nuclears like it midway up. Bright and open since day one.
Good info in the Purple Deaths, mine are doing great and I have a huge colony but they are 3/4 up in my tank and they are brownish, maybe I will lower than a bit and see what happens.
I have an ATI powermodule fixture 6*39 watts and my zoas love it at the botto
my purple hornets popped put one head in two weeks so I recommend the bottom so they don't take over your tank in a few years.
Bottom is best (especially for the purp's who brown with high light)...I actually have a colony of nuc's and purps together on the bottom of my 150 that have morphed in the middle...half nuc's - half purp death.
These were placed as the same as my first pic and you can see the purple starting to change color . This was the same time I was having high phosphate issues.
Mine are 6 inches from the top in a 12" deep tank. Both look good. The Nukes actually recently put of tons of baby polyps. The PDs have been growing bigger but haven't put out new polyps in a long time. I think they are stunted from my old tank.
BTW, Bella, what camera and lighting are you using? Those shots are excellent!
