Purple death question

I got a frag of purple deaths a few weeks ago. They are doing great, but they are brown. Well, purplish brown....more brown though. Any idea on how to get these guys to purple up? I've moved them higher and getting no results. My light is 2 x 250 halides 20k.

Put them in a more shaded area, lower in the tank.

^ +1. Too much light will brown them out. They are a lower light paly.

For me I cant agree i have 4 frags and they are all at different placements in my tank. They all look the same as the day I got them. I'm running 2x150 mh 20 k

just curious, are they still brown when you look at them top down?

my PDs are brown with a little tinge of purple, but more brown... funny thing is, when i look at them top down, they're a nice dark purple (no hint of brown at all!)

I have some that i move from a tank with a 250w MH to a tank with 4x54 T5 IC660 setup. The new palys that are growing under the old ones are more purple than the original ones that turned brown. I've moved the piece to an even more shaded area to see what happens.

I brought this up a while back and my comments were brushed under the rug. I too notice this as well as looking at them through low or high iron glass. Regular glass they are brown and starfire they are purple.
