purple deaths not purple

My purple deaths are growing like crazy yet they aren't bright purple. More of a brownish purple. Anything I could do to brighten them up a bit?

I found mine brown out or turn maroonish under high light. I shaded mine and they slowly turned back to purple.

Mine is high up. That might be it. Low light brings out the best colors?

i find that to be true with acans and zoas. My purple deaths sometimes get a brownish film on them, have you tried rubbing them a little

Purple deaths need to be in indirect light
Put them at the base of an sps colony with a little shade and they will turn back bright purple!

thanks, I repositioned them where they aren't in direct light. I'll send an updated picture once they color back up.

Yep, although they will grow nice under high direct light, I have always got the fullest purple color from placing them in a more shaded area.

PD's under 8 T5s 6" from the water's surface.

i have the same issue and i keep mine in the upper third of the tank, think i'll try a lower spot.

hey 650-IS350 what wattage are those mh in the pic

Definately agree that they will get more color in indirect/shaded light, mine started off brownish & after I moved them to a shaded area they are starting to color up nicely.......
