Purple deaths

I have a 55 gal zoa's only tank with 4x55W pc light and 300gph power head. It is about 80F, 250ppm CA, & 3.15 meq/L KH. I add Lugol's solution weekly according to the instructions. My purple death lives happily with the other zoa's. Hope this help.

Hey Doc, tell us a little about your setup, like lighting and flow... They will do fine under normal conditions but thrive under better ligthing and flow...

the pd's are in a 12 g nano.

wondering if i should put them at the bottom, or right at the top.. higher flow, or lower flow...

right now (i just got them), they are somewhat orangish/brown, which i know pd's can do.. so just trying to get them to purple up.

Mine grows in my 100gal with 8bulb tek lights and 4 hydor korialis #4's. 4800gph.

1/2 is in high light is is more brown/purple while the other half is little shaded and is purple.

Highflow high light - BIG/brown purple polyps
Med flow, low/med light - purple small polyps

IME Darker colored peices like less light than the brighter peices. As for flow, I think they can get use to a wide range.

I have some under 250 MH about 14" down does good and I have some under T5's about 20" down a does great but they have a more blue look to them.

as long as you start them all the way in the bottom and not being bombarded with light till they get acclimatized.. slowly moving them up in time.. you'll be good. The zoo will tell you how happy or sad they are in their current spot that you put them in.
