wow, i am in the same boat. under 250w XM 10k mine look like the brown picture too. I will move a frag up and see how it does! probably will glue it to the back glass!

would this be the same for my brown purple caps?

Well I have my purple cap really low in the tank. No problems with this coral but the digi never colored up.

so long as its up high, it will color up just fine under T5 HO as well. Actually the best that coral ever looked was when it was under T5s in my tank. Same goes for my german blue polyp digi.

my purple digi browned out after a tank transfer and remains brown

glad to know it's not just me. it's growing pretty fast though so hopefully as it reaches the top of the tank it will start to get it's color back.

Mine is in the same spot as in Horace's pic. It grows like weed and is high up. I guess high flow and high light is key.
