purple hairy mushroom

Do you have a picture of it? I've only seen green hairy mushrooms, and brownish green ones. Pink rics typically go for at least $20 a polyp in the LFS around here.
Is this a rhodactis you are talking about? I don't know if that's the same as the hairy shroom I'm thinking of. But they come in many colors and they can be pretty high. It might be worth it. It is fairly rare to find them in good colors locally.

I've got some blue harry mushrooms that came in as hitch hickers on some LR year ago. It seems that they are just not being imported into the trade. My LFS was asking me for a frag of one the other day as he had seem them on the list but wasn't sure if they were really blue. Mine are blue/purple on the tips and when they grow out to a nice full size, they look almost all blue.
You can see one of them in this pic. middle of the tank to the left of the green yumma. This is w/ 10K MH and PC atinics.
This is a pic of it from a couple of years ago under PC lights. It still had the blue but you can't really see it in the pic. It was being washed in natural sun light.

WOW! Guess prices went way up. As I said, it was a hitchhiker on a zoa rock I got years ago and only paid about 20 bucks for the rock. They are slow growers.
I had one, it split and then for some reason, the mother died. I spent the next several years babying it to keep it alive. It has now split a few times and is doing much better. I'm at the point now where I feel comfortable trying to frag it.
I made my first frag a few weeks ago and gave it to a friend. I'll have to seehow it's doing. I have about 5 of them now in my tank from splitting.
May be time to pull out teh razor blade and start fragging. They do look awsome though.

I think $40 a polyp for the pink rics is high though. MS gets them in for $20 a polyp fairly often. I got all of my pinks from a local reefer for much less than that. The pinks seem to be pretty slow growers for me so far.
