Purple Hornets? What say you reefers?

Blue Thumb
I've been in the market for purple hornets for a while and happened to come across these ebay links.....

They look like blue hornets to me due to the white mouth. I emailed the seller to see if he could provide proof of lineage. He says he has feedback on here so we'll see. If anyone could shed some light on this for me I would appreciate it. I'm not trying to screw this guy out of money, but the whole private party trading and selling of coral on the interweb is based purely on trust and integrity (just look at nocturnalreefer's feedback). It would suck if you didn't actually get what you overpaid for. Thanks,

Rory

I think the morphology is the same in both specimens. The angle of the picture due to "crowding" in the 2nd link is what may lend to a difference in appearance. That's just my opinion however, and if he's selling them both as "True Purple Hornets" evidently they are from the same colony. Don't get me wrong, Blue Hornets rock.....I just think that if a knowledgeable person purchased these they would not be satisfied. Trust me, the last thing this guy wants to deal with is paypal disputes and the like.

***Disclaimer: in my first post I alluded to nocturnalreefer and his negative feedback. This was by no means presented with malicious intent, rather an example of what bad practices, founded or unfounded, can do to your reputation and future transactions in this community

i think both the pics are of the same coral just different frags. They both seem to be the True Blue Hornets since they have the yellow/purple alternating skirt, yellow ring and light blue center.

Here is an auction of the real purple hornets:

I've bought yellow jackets from him and his shipping is great. Never got purple hornets from him though.

Oh yeah...I recently bid on both the yellow jackets and the purple hornets and lost both auctions :(. Wanna part with a polyp of the YJs? :)

No harm done. We do that to prevent unscrupulous people from advertising their sales on other forums here. I know that the chance of this being a case of that is slim, but in the interest of even enforcement, we remove all such links. :)

Even enforcement is the only way to keep us safe from low-life soliciting d-bags. Trust me, if I see another post on my local forum that reads, "Iphone pictures taking how too?" I'm going to freak.

Just an update.....the seller responded to my message by posting on the auction that thought wrong and they are in fact Blue Hornets. Good guy
