purple hornets

I got a juvi polyp from Gary at Reef Pets more than a month ago. It never opened and I was pretty sure it was a goner but it started to open a couple of days ago. I'm really excited to watch it grow. Not sure if they are really this tempermental or whether mine just had a rough time in shipping but I hope it starts to grow fast. Otherwise, it will be Christmas before I have any babies...

Hey socal I got one from Gary right around the same time. Mine opened from day 1. After about 2 weeks it closed and I noticed the the stalk had a few blotches for lack of a better word. Anyway I did four consecutive furan2 dips, it opened after the first dip. As of this week the base of the stalk is starting to widen and I thinks I see buds; crossing fingers.

Good to hear it, 2006. Mine is going to be a long, slow project, I can tell. I'm just happy it's alive. It would be an expensive one to loose.

Looks like it to me but I'm no expert. One of the most distinctive characteristics is the alternating purple and green in the skirt.

purple hornets?

purple hornets?

well just have to see,i recieved my first hornets, very nice, and happy, but this weekend im recieving a rock with so many on it i can hardly count,so ill repost later.maybe a picture, just want to make sure they are the real deal.............

Good luck with the new PHs. I'm still waiting for my juvenile PH from Gary at Reef Pets to recover from shipping and acclimation to my tank. It took it a month to finally open.

i try to avoid negativity but this purple hornets "craze" is just about the stupidest thing I have encountered. there is no way they are worth this much...absolutely insane. it would be one thing if they looked like rastas or something....they look like something you might accidently pass over in a buy 3 get one free LFS tank....

I wouldnt pay $5 a polyp.

rant over. sorry.

purple hornets?

we pickup our rock over the weekend,we were told that they may be ble instead of purple, which for the price of$$ is still and great deal for over 250 polps, split 4 ways,i have 60plus,cant wait to get home tonight and see the ture color, the lighting they were under wasnt as bright, but even as of 11pm last night after 1 hour in tank they were already opening up,the neon rings int he dark were so bright, ill try and post a picture if i can, mike

LOL, you haven't seen anything yet man. See other polyps like the " capt. america's, " and other type hyped polyps. I wanna see your reaction to that.

But to get back to the subject, please take pics once they open up. under true day lights not blasted with attinics please.

Shouldn't we all be coobaya of sorts as it was just easter. kids with all these chocolates and candies that us adults help in eating....all the food from the family parties and such?

every zoa looks like something you could potentially pass over in a LFS. they are all very similair. like comparing a purebred dog to a mutt, theyre basicly the same shape... but yet, some cost a whole lot more for some reason.

the expensive ones are the ones that wont get the chance to IMO. if you see PH in a LFS, buy em and sell em, make a killing.

Or buy them & share them with your friends! :D I gave a polyp to a friend for safekeeping but just like mine, hers blew away. :(
