Purple Limeade, Cranberries A. nasuta

I figured it was a fairly hardy coral from what I've read. I was super surprised when I found it RTN"d one morning about 3 weeks after I got it. It happens to all of us, but it sucks when it does.

Eric, Wow, the color looks so beautiful on that coral...it does seem that the growth is different. Super sweet :D.

Thanks Alicia. Not to hijack or go off track here, but I as well as some others I know have been experiencing some STN and RTN events lately:confused: I think part of mine was Alk shooting up to 10 from 8. I'm hoping that was that. Now back to our originally scheduled program.

. Most of these colonies color up on average from anywhere to 1 to 5 months depending the size of the piece, on your lighting, and husbandry. Most of the posts are pretty accurate on how to care for this species. Good luck to all and Happy Reefing!

Bigger colony colors up better or worse than frags?

I think that it depends on the coral some do vary well when they are smaller e.g. hyacinthus
and bigger colony's e.g. deep water acro's
this is just MO

Well from looking at your tanks I thought coral losses were a thing of the past for you :), guess no one is immune if Eric can lose a coral. I say this because I just lost a Crayola Plana and my frag of Rommels Blue Monster :( due to a Calc/Alk chemical imbalance also.

Most of the time a frag will color up faster solely due to the fact it has less branches. If you take a frag with one or two branches, it has no limitations of how much light can be projected on to it. Since it is a "Bushy Acropora" a colony can be limited to how much light it can receive due to the branches shadowing the rest of the colony itself. Hope this helps all. take care!

Eric sure knows how to pick his acros. Nice piece you got there Eric.

James, I wish I picked out this Acro. I wish I had it like that. It came in a tranship that I thought was from Marshall Islands but later found out it was Vanuatu. A year or two ago the pickings were plentiful. Nowadays, you would be very fortunate to get a hold of something nice. When you order nice stuff, you get dung. When you are not expecting a shipment and your supplier begs you to take an extra box of stuff that was leftover, you score:confused: Don't ask me why, but that has been the case as of late for me. Go figure:eek2: Take care bud..

Funny you say this as I felt somewhat bulletproof there for a while. Everything was doing great. Then the move came and I been greatly humbled since that time. :) Back to the drawing board:lol:

Nice. I've seen RM's frags in person in their holding tank (and in my home :) ) and they are just as nice as the pics.

I rarely purchase from a vendor. the only people I trust is ORA.
I trust RM But should I still treat for red bugs just in case???

If so one treatment for a few hours?? Or just a 1 hour dip and blow it off??

Yea, RM does have nice stuff. Unfortunately my guy RTN'd one night out of the blue. Very strange...nothing I could do. This is a really nice coral, I may try it again some day and see what happens.
mine did the same thing about a week after i got it. it was getting great flow, i tried fragging it but eventually lost the whole thing.
