Purple Mat Anemone

I just bought a purple mat anemone and wanted to know if anyone knows the basics on this kind of anemone. Just let me know the general stuff. I bought it for my oscellaris clowns. Thanks!

Purple mat anemones, from what I can tell, are usually either small H. crispa or H. malu.

If they are not, then at least their care is very similar. They were very common in the 80's and 90's and I am starting to see them again now that anemones are becoming more popular. Your clowns may or may not accept them as a host.

Sorry that took so long. I was at school. These are pics of my anemone and I just want to know what kind it is and any important info on this specific kind of anemone. Thanks!

Thats a H Crispa aka Seabe . and it's bleached. Feed it silversides and is should color up to a brown color.

12gallon, I'm assuming that anemone in a "new 12 gallon tank" as suggested by your experience? You really need to research anemones, and everything for that matter, before you add them to a tank. H. crispa needs to be in a larger tank that has been stable for several months. And, only experienced aquarists need to keep nanos, because stability is greater in a larger tank.

Is there anyway you can get that anemone to a seasoned, successful aquarist to keep it until you get a larger tank and have it up and running for several months?

I just gave it to my friend who has a bigger tank. thanks for the clarification. what kind of anemone would you recommend for a 12 gallon AP with an oscellaris clown pair?

After the tank has been stable for 6 months and you have had the experience of testing on a regular basis and can manage to keep the ph, alk, temp., specific gravity in check and have your water change schedule down to a regular thing once per week, then I would say of the host anemones, only Entacmea quadricolor (BTA) is an option. If you have two ocellaris in there, then no other fish or corals. A BTA will grow large and practically fill a 12 gallon, but can be successfully kept in that size tank with good husbandry.
