About three and A half weeks ago i purchased a Purple Queen Anthius, I Had slight concerns about him but the lfs store were I purchased him assured me that purple queens were very hardy also assured me he was eating, well prior to this I had never had problem with them, after getting him home aclimating him witch went well. He was out swimming about that same night. Now after getting him all settled in did research on him found they are very difficult to keep. Also hard to get to eat. Well it has been three and A half weeks Havent seen him eat a thing, he does come out every day. when I place food int he tank just ignores it. he also has a red mark on the center side of his body down the whole side this has just developed. I have tried flake food rods original formula, rods myisis and brine alsong with formula two. Any suggestions.

Do a search on them in this forum, I know there are a few people who have gotten them to eat but you need to be trying tiny foods and lots of them, they need to be fed many times daily. Maybe some live brine, cyclopeeze, etc. Also why in the world would you go against your gut feeling and trust the guy who's making money off you? Never bring something home without researching it first.

The red spot sounds like red sore disease to me. I know chromis are prone to it because in the wild they are caught with large nets, and the sore is actually a bacterial infection caused by a bruise that occured during catching. Anthias are schooling fish as well and I would assume are caught in a similar fashion. There is remedies to healing the fish, but you'll have to do some research on that. If possible, I would try and get the fish into a hospital tank to start treating and to work on feeding.

ok thanks yes i know it was against my better judgement trusted the lfs who i had been dealing with alot. Can any one recomend a good online vender for corals and fish not many in mt area.

LiveAquaria, especially their Diver's Den section is a great source. Some stuff is really expensive, but don't let that deter you. There are some great affordable specimens too, and their guarantee is great!
