Purple-Spotted Mantis

Hello everyone...I've been researching and narrowing down what type of mantis to purchis for my 12gal and have decided to either purchase a G. Smithii or a G. Viridis. I would prefer the Smithii due to it's interactive nature and overall color, but I cannot find an online vender who sells them. I have been checking with Stomatopod.com, and they have none. I read that they had a cancelled shipment on the 7th, and I dont know if they normally stock them or not?

Also my local vendors here in Middle GA are pretty worthless, and driving to Atlanta might be an option....

Any help is much appreciated!

good luck on the smithii, chances are that if you find one...it will be by chance...Billy from Stomatopods.com said that they were trying to get them but no diver ID's and picks up specific species, except peacocks or large spearers... the wholesalers get a grab bag and sort out from there....

I got my G. smithii from bluezooaquatics.com... they get them every once in a while. However, you mentioned that you wanted a mantis that was "interactive"... not sure that description fits this species. I think most people would describe G. smithii as "active" (that is they are out and about a lot), but not exactly "interactive" (as in being aware of you and what you are doing and then reacting). The Odontodactylids seem to be the most "interactive" although the G. smithii are certainly colorful.

I have a G. Smithii that I would be willing to trade or sell if you are interested. Comes with a rock that it calls home.
