Purple Tang and Lateral Line

I recently purchased a "scratch and dent" purple tang. It is about 3" in size. I got it at a VERY low price due to the lateral line it has. It has been in my system for few days now and is doing fantastic. It eats algae off of my rocks like crazy and picks at the dried seaweed I through in for it. Anyways, does lateral line go away with proper nutrition? If so, what is recomended to aid in reversing the lateral line? Thanks!

I have had a purple tang in my tank for about 3 months now.... He eats great all the time. Brine shrimp, alage off the rocks, seeweed and supplements vitamin enriched mysis(freeze dried). And still the lateral line comes and goes. My tang is also ultra aggressive and he beats up his own shadow. If you find out anything else let me know...

I've seen lateral line go away without a trace on a hippo tang once it was put into a better tank with better nutrition. But I've also seen a yellow tang that was permanently disfigured from lateral line. The yellow tang had really, really bad lateral line a long time ago. The holes in it's skin healed, but you could still see it was disfigured. I guess it depends on how bad the scaring is.

anyone heard of saturating food in vit c to help?
Do you mean Vit C for human sonsumption. that i have not ttried.
Why don't you soak fish foord in vitamin suplement. Always have Nori (green; fold in layers so dont fall apart as easilyon the clip)) available in the tank for tang to nibble/graze on.
