purple tang&gem tang on the same tank

You don't think he would be okay at 557 gallons? That would be more than triple the minimum for either fish. I understand the length issue, but it's a lot of water, with possibly a ton of liverock for hiding places.

1000 litres is 264 Gallons not 557

Dope... seriously? You know like... fish swim laterally and stuff right? There are very few tangs I would keep in a tank less than 2m or 6ft, and wouldn't try two fish species from the zebrasoma or acanthurus genus together without 8ft because I've like, kept tangs and stuff.

Not to change the subject, but Im a new owner of a purple tang(4 inches) and would like to know if its normal they have a huge appetite.

The height his almost 2 meters. If they have to swim completely laterally, then I guess it's not enough. He could even position the rocks in such a way that there is a diagonal straight away that measures nearly 2 meters by having the liverock in 2 very large triangles across from each other.

So ill get a 3000 liter cube tank and it should be ok. The thing is that i would like to get more tangs such the yellow Achilles chevron a flame angle and different species as well. The idea is to hve an eco system.
What do you guy's advice

That would make it almost 800 gallons. I've seen different Zebrasoma live very happily in smaller cubes.

I still think you may have a good chance. If you have your live rock in the center column to make the tangs swim in constant circles, that may work.

I have a purple tang, yellow tang, hippo tang, naso tang, orange shoulder tang, kole tang, and a crosshatch trigger in a 6Ft 200g system. Contrary to popular belief, they are one big happy family and constantly graze algae together, except the trigger. I introduced them all at once.

I had a purple tang that was a sweetheart and I had a purple tang that we had to perform an exorcism on.... HTH
