I have a Purple tang that has just started in week 3 in the QT. He just started showing signs of Ick I believe. Look at the pics. does this look like ick to y'all?

Other fish in QT with him but no signs of Ick are a Percula clown, Clown Tang, and a fox face.

So the big question Hyposalinity treat or Two Tank method?

Thanks
Sam

Looks like ich. I strongly believe in tank transfer method. Treat all fish that are currently in the tank with the purple tang, or have been exposed to it.

Great job QT'ing!

Spots where gone the very next day????? how is that possible if it was ICK. and yes I observe the fish every day closely. The ICK or what ever it was was only there for one day.

Any thoughts????

What you are observing is the parasite going through its life cycle. The white spots will return in a few days, and in greater numbers. TTM will break the life cycle and eliminate the parasite.

It might be ich and it might not be.. I had fish covered in sand before, and thought it was ich.. Wait and see if it comes back.

The white spots are usually lesions left by the ich parasite when they fall of the fish.

OK Update, I've been working 12 hour days so little time to take care of this problem.

Yesterday the Clown Tang that was in the tank Died. He was eating the day before very well. Had no spots (That I could see). He was all bones, the other fish picked him clean in just 24hrs.

The remaining fish are eating and show no spots, no scratching.
1) Percula Clown
1) Majestic Fox Face
1) purple tang

Starting the TTM today.

Ich doesn't kill overnight... velvet dies though. TTM won't fix velvet.

Also, your cleanup crew most likely ate the fish.
