Purple tang is sick, help me identify treatment please

Yeah, that's definitely not ich. Honestly, to me, those spots seem too big for flukes as well, but I haven't seen an advanced case of flukes so, I don't know. For Prazi you should aerate heavily.

I'd say you should do a freshwater dip, but I am wondering if he's too sick for that to not kill him.

I just did 15 mins. Doesnt seem like it did much :( I have returned the fish back with its friends, i dont want to stress it more.

Wow, First pic looked like ich to me, but the other pics-this isn't flukes as you know because with a fresh water dip, the flukes would have come off.

This is strange, I wonder if it's bacterial? All of the resident experts haven't chimed in yet. They're probably super stumped. You try antibiotics yet?

My guess would be bacterial. Try a broad-spectrum antibiotic like Furan-2 or kanamycin. You can also safely combine these two antibiotics to make a "super" antibiotic.

Nice avatar btw :D love the regal blue art

I have experience with hypo, seachem metro/focus and prazi, I am not very familiar or comfortable with other medications. But if thats what I take, I will do it.

Do you have the name of medication and it is a QT type medication or bath?

Thanks :)

I've never treated bacterial or fungal infections on fish (only human eyes) so I'm probably not the best to ask. I feel ThRoewer knows the most on this. However I do have a general antibiotic in my fish arsenal, just not sure about the effectiveness seeing how it seems like an antiquated Ab.

kanamycin (KanaPlex) seems to be an oral type of medication and my purple hasnt been eating for two weeks.

Furan-2: how to best apply this? currently the fish is in a permanent QT with other fish.

Thank you for the help. I hope ThRoewer can give some guidance.

Both are administered directly into the aquarium. Just follow the instructions on the packaging (usually dose each day with a water change before dosing). While you can mix Kanaplex with food (per Seachem's recommendation), it is easier to dose directly into the aquarium.

I would treat the fish in a dedicated QT without any other fish present.

Okay sounds like plan. Is this treatment safe during Hypo? Currently all fish are undergoing Hypo. Also can I leave LR in the QT while medicating?
