Putting in Halides

Alright, I'm just about ready to throw down on a halide upgrade to my 24G Nanocube. After much deliberation, I've decided to retrofit either a 70W or a 150W 14K system along with 3 exhaust fans into the stock hood.

In choosing which to put in, am I going to have ANY livestock limitations with light requirements at 70W MH +72W PC's over 24G? I want to be able to keep crocea/maxima/some sps in the future.

The drawback to the 150W MH would obviously be the heat in sucha confined area. Can a total wattage of 150MH +72 PC over 24G bleach out corals or be too intense?

Let me know what you'd do!

Thanks!

I just got a sunpod 14K 70 W and put it over my 14g bio cube and I am wanting to do the same as you by throwing in a few sps so far its worked out nicely for a 14 gallon so I think you should be okay either way you go

Thanks for sharing. Those sunpod fixtures appear to do the trick, unfortunetly don't have any way to put one on. (got a yellowheaded jawfish that I love, but that loves to jump!)

Anyone else with an opinion? Will there be any livestock limitations with 70MH and 72PC over, and I mean RIGHT over, a 24G nanocube?

IMO, I would go 150W. My main tank is sps, and I'm a fan of brightly colored sps. I think that 142w of light would have some limitations as to coral selection, growth, and color. Of course, water quality and proper flow help as well. JMO
