putting new clowns in a tank with other clowns help!

i have a large 450 litre tank containing a pair of perculiar clowns, a pink skunk clown, a skunk clown fish and a pair of tomatoe clowns.

they all get on fine as they all have their own areas of the tank, but although these are all living together fine would introducing another pair of clowns be a big risk?

i have a breeding pair in a smaller tank but we are currently making our own tank (which will be bigger then the 450 litre) and would really like them all in the same tank together.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

I'd probably quit while I was ahead. As they get older some get a lot more territorial, and things may not be so happy in there.

that whole "you can't mix clowns" is complete bs.

obviously, introducing multiple pairs is a different topic but clowns are damsels and they can be mixed in decent sized tanks with appropriate territories for each, or none at all

my cinnamon and fire were introduced at a large size (both females) no scars bites or scratches. occassional displays and then thats it. half the time they are together anywayz

I don't think anyone said you can't mix clowns, there are some however that probably shouldn't be mixed.


Your clowns are very similiar, but I'd like to know how long they've been together.

I'm not sure what your post has to do with the question at hand??

The clown pair i want to add are again perculia clowns but from the Australian sea, the perculia already in the tank are tank reared false perculia.

I hear that Maroons are a big no no for mixing with other clowns as are Clarki.

my Tomatoe pair have their own anemone and the tank reared perculia are just not interested in it (which happens with most tank reared i hear) However the Australian perculia did have an anemone which sadly died suddenly so i am a little concern that they will fight over the it when introduce together, would adding a second anemone help?

I've mixed juvenile clowns in the past thinking I was succesful.
I remember someone saying tell us how they are 6 months from now.
One day I came home and man were they thrashing each other!
I was left with some pretty badly scarred fish, and a new found humbleness to this hobby.
You might get lucky adding a second nem if they are far enough away from each other, but I think you're already really pushing it with what you've got.
And anyone who says mixing clowns not being a problem hasn't been doing this very long.

I have a solitary GBMaroon. As the years go by she gets orneryer and orneryer. This last year she has killed almost all my corals, and is now knocking over my rockwork. She can move a rock over twice her size. Had I read here first I would have never got her. Sometimes, it's hard to 'get rid' of something when it becomes a problem. I'll never get rid of her, I figure it was my mistake, I will live with it. I try to be very informed with any purchase I make at this point. I'm looking for long term success.
