PVC burrow question

Is it better to provide a PVC burrow or let the shrimp make his own habitat out of rubble and stuff?

i'm about to redo my mantis tank and i was wondering the same thing..
currently there is a network ofPVC in his tank but was questioning wether or not to put the PVC back in or let him do his own thing.
he seems to like the PVC tunnel but it's not very natural. he moved the rock rubble around to his liking for a while...

It depends on the species. I let all of my O. havanensis, O. latirostris and O. brevirostris construct their own burrows from rubble and our Lysiosquillina excavate their burrows in sand. However, most of our other species are given pvc.

Thanks for the expert advice!

I just got mine (not sure of species yet - no good picture either), and he has just been in the burrow all day for two days. I fed him a fresh piece of squid, and I think he ate it...
I've heard some clicking sounds (presumably against the pvc walls) ... but that's about it.

Most of the time I had him in his temporary home he hid under that rock (the one I couldn't grab at first). The only thing I know he ate for sure was a little hermit I put in with him. He smacked it around a few times and that was it but a few days later the shell was empty.

Sorry I couldn't help with an ID he's so small...and dark. Maybe after he molts?

Haha, it's my fault for not taking a picture of him when I had the chance.
I forgot and just stuck him into the tank after acclimation.
