What kind of pvc cement can you use to glue pvc that is reef safe. I posted this in diy but have not got any answers.

That’s because which ever one you pick will be fine. The reason being it is that is used in potable water supply lines then it is reef safe.

I like the two part myself, Brand I belive is OATY. I also prefer the clear products unless you are really carefull and neat about things.

The brand is "OATEY". Here's a link to their page in case you need it. It's readily available in Home Depot for about $3-5, I think. If you have some left over and next time you go to use it, it's turned into a gel, then it's no good.

I'd prime it as the primer is just acetone. It cleans the plastic surface and roughs it up a little. The acetone evaporates in less than a minute and will not contaminate the water. It makes for a better bond. If you chose not to use it then lightly sand the connections before applying the cement.

PVC Primer is purple and runny, makes a big mess if you're not very careful.
Our you could use straight acetone. It will also clean all the letters and stamps from the pipe for a clean look.

I'll take the word of a contractor, hopefully plumbing, that the primer and cleaner are different. :D

No not a plumber a GC. They may sell clear primer/cleaner right next to the purple, but that purple makes a real mess. It's dyed so the inspectors can tell that it was used. You're spot on Waterkeeper the primer cleans dirt and oil from the pipe and softens it a little for glueing.
